EUROPE TRIP: SOFTBALL

As for softball, so far we have won every game in the ASL (Austrian League).  Other than our home field in Hard, Austria... I have traveled to Linz, Austria; St. Polten, Austria; Stockreu, Austria; and the capital city Vienna, Austria to play teams in our league.  This means that our whole team piles ourselves (and our equipment) into two vans. We have driven up to seven hours across Austria.  Often we travel through Germany on the U-Bahn where there is no driving speed limit.  Our most frequent stop on the road is McDonalds!!! Actually, Germany has the second-most Mcdonalds establishments in the World per person! Who knew???

Tournament-wise, we have only played one tournament which was held in Prague, the capital city of the CZ Republic.  We won first place in the tournament after playing five games in three days.  My teammate Holly Krzan (Former player and current assistant coach at Alabama-Birmingham) was awarded the MVP of the tournament.  

Coming up we play a three-day double-header series against the Vienna Mosquitoes (July 3rd), the Vienna Wonderers (July 4th), and the St. Polten Pee Wees (July 5th). The following weekend (July 11th) a group of Austrian All-Stars will be selected to play against the Austrian National Team.  This double-header was scheduled to help prepare the National Team for the European Championships in Valencia, Spain (July 26th - August 2nd).
